Screen Protector with Eco Applicator, for iPad Air 11" M2 2024 / M3 2025 / M4 2026
  • Eco applicator
  • 9H hardness
  • Oleophobic coating

The Mobile Origin screen protector for iPad has six functional layers, 9H surface hardness and 2.5D rounded edges. The glass is applied using an applicator made of paper materials that aligns it on the display by itself, so no freehand guesswork is needed. The top nano layer reduces fingerprints and grease, while the lower layers absorb part of the impact energy.

  • 9H surface hardness: the glass withstands keys, coins and grains of sand — the things that scratch a tablet display most often.
  • Six functional layers: damping and absorption layers beneath the tempered core spread the impact energy instead of passing it into the panel.
  • Paper applicator: the installation frame is part of the box, and once the glass is applied you recycle it as paper.
  • 2.5D rounded edges: the edge of the glass follows the body of the iPad smoothly, doesn't rub your finger and is harder to lift.
  • Oleophobic nano layer: grease and fingerprints cling to the surface less and wipe off with the cloth from the included cleaning kit.

A paper applicator instead of a plastic frame

The installation frame is the box itself: you open it, place your iPad inside and lay the glass onto the guide pins. The frame is made of paper materials, not plastic, so after installation there is no single-use plastic part left for mixed waste — just paper you sort for recycling. With applicator glasses this part is always single-use, so its fate is decided by the material, not by how you treat it. The paper construction holds the glass in the same position as a plastic one; the difference is what's left on the table after installation.

Six layers, each with its own job

The glass is not a single piece of glazing but a sandwich of six layers. On top sits a nano layer against dirt, beneath it a diffusion layer that spreads light and pressure across the surface. The core is tempered glass, which carries the surface hardness, followed by a damping layer, a protective layer and an absorption layer. This lower trio absorbs part of the impact energy before it reaches the iPad's panel — something a single-layer film cannot do.

9H hardness and the limits of protection

9H hardness describes the surface's resistance to scratching. A tablet display is most often damaged by fine silica sand, keys or coins in a backpack — hard particles that cannot cut into the glass surface. No glass, however, guarantees complete protection against a fall onto a corner: on a hard impact it may crack itself, because it takes the energy instead of the panel. A cracked protector you simply replace, a cracked iPad display means a service repair — and that is exactly the point of the extra layer.

2.5D rounded edges instead of a flat cut

The difference between 2D and 2.5D glass is in the edge. Flat 2D glass ends in a perpendicular cut that forms a sharp step on the display: your finger catches on it and the edge lifts more easily. With 2.5D the edge is ground into an arc, so the transition between the glass and the body of the iPad is smooth. The sharp cut is also where glass cracks most often, because an impact to the corner concentrates into a single point; a rounded edge spreads it along a longer surface. If you use your iPad in a case, the smooth edge is less likely to catch on its frame.

An oleophobic surface against grease and liquids

The top nano layer repels grease and water. A drop pulls itself into a bead on the surface and runs off instead of spreading and drying into a stain. On a tablet you use at meals, in the kitchen or lend to kids, this mainly shows in the time spent cleaning: a dry cloth is usually all it takes. The oleophobic finish gradually wears with use, fastest in the places you touch the display all the time; the protective function of the glass remains, the fingerprints are just harder to wipe off.

Fingerprints and display legibility

Fingerprints on a display aren't a problem in themselves — reflections are: as soon as light from a window or lamp hits the tablet, the greasy marks scatter it and the image loses contrast. An anti-fingerprint finish doesn't remove the marks entirely, but it significantly limits how many stick to the surface, and the rest wipes off dry. The glass keeps its high transparency, so it doesn't reduce the display's brightness or sharpness. The surface stays smooth, your finger glides across it without snagging and touch sensitivity is preserved.

Cleaning kit and squeegee in the box

Most bubbles under the glass aren't caused by a botched application but by dust left on the display. The box therefore includes a wet wipe for cleaning and disinfecting the display, a microfibre cloth for drying, a dust-removal sticker and guide stickers. The dust sticker picks up the particles a cloth merely pushes around, and it comes as the last step just before laying the glass down. The squeegee is for after installation: if a bubble remains under the glass, you push it out towards the nearest edge.

Installation step by step

You can manage the whole process at a table in a few minutes, and you don't need anything else — the frame and the cleaning kit are part of the box.

  1. Open the box and place your iPad into the installation frame.
  2. Clean the display thoroughly until no dust remains.
  3. Lay the glass into the frame with the guide holes facing up, so the holes sit onto the guide pins.
  4. Close the box and press firmly on the marked palm area.
  5. While keeping the pressure on, pull the release strip all the way out.
  6. Open the box and wait 10 seconds for the adhesive layer to activate.
  7. Remove the top guide film.
  8. Installation is complete. Push any remaining bubbles out towards the edges with the included squeegee.

The QR code on the application film opens a video guide with the detailed procedure.
