Extendable rod and reach across the whole keyboard

Short cleaning brushes force you to hold your hand right above the surface. With a keyboard lying on a desk, an external monitor or a shelf full of gear, that means leaning over the device and cleaning in small sections. CL3 solves reach with an extendable rod that fits into the brush head: without it you hold the head like a pencil for work on a small area, with the rod extended you guide it like a small broom at a distance from the surface. For a laptop keyboard lying right in front of you the head alone is enough, while the rod helps wherever your hand would otherwise have to lean over the device.

The flat head covers a whole row of keys

The head has a rectangular shape instead of a round bundle of bristles, so one pass covers a whole row of keys. The bristles are soft and densely set, so they collect and carry dust away instead of scattering it across the desk. The top side of the head carries a microfiber cloth: once the dust is swept away, just turn the brush over and wipe the display or the laptop lid without reaching for another cloth. For the deep gaps between the keys of a mechanical keyboard the head is wide, and those are handled by the earphone brush and the pen tip from the same kit.

Nine tools in one kit

The kit contains nine tools and all of them are stored back in a single body, so nothing is left loose in a drawer. Besides the brush and the pen there are parts that usually have to be looked for separately: a SIM pin, a keycap puller and a shaft puller for mechanical keyboards. The range therefore covers the keyboard, display, earphones and connectors of one workspace.

Cleaning pen with two ends

The pen has a thin metal tip on one end and a flocked sponge on the other. The tip picks compacted dust out of a phone's charging port or out of the recesses in a wireless earphone case, where bristles cannot reach. The sponge collects fine dust and grease from surfaces where metal would scratch: the speaker grille or the seating surface of a charging case. In a port, guide the tip along the walls of the connector and without pressure, so the contacts stay untouched.

Detachable pen handle

The pen has two working lengths. With the handle attached, the pen is as long as an ordinary pencil, which helps when cleaning between keys, where you need to see the tip from a greater distance. Removing the handle shortens the tool to a few centimetres and moves the grip closer to the tip, so it can be guided millimetre by millimetre. That is the position for work inside an earphone charging case or right around a connector.

Dimensions and carrying

Folded up, the kit measures 153 x 55 x 14 mm and weighs 26 g. Those fourteen millimetres of thickness decide where it fits: besides a drawer, also into the side pocket of a backpack or into a laptop bag next to the machine itself. The body is made of black ABS plastic and the individual tools are stored back inside it, so no loose pieces are left in the bag. The kit contains no electronics and no cleaning liquid, so it needs no charging and no refilling.
