The Mobile Origin AT1 metal keychain has a zinc alloy frame, and your Apple AirTag snaps into it in a few seconds. With its spring-loaded carabiner you can clip it to your keys, a backpack or a pet collar. The keychain is 87 mm long and weighs 30 g.

Zinc alloy metal body

Both the frame around the AirTag and the carabiner are made of zinc alloy. The same metal is commonly used for belt buckles and zipper sliders, parts that take strain every day. The rigid metal frame keeps its shape even in a tight pocket or a full backpack. The surface resists scratches, which matters most on a bunch of keys, where the keychain rubs against metal every day. The frame and the carabiner are joined by a short strap made of imitation leather (PU). It is a material with a polyurethane surface that looks and feels like real leather.

Carabiner with a spring-loaded gate

You can clip the carabiner to a key ring, the handle of a backpack or bag, a belt loop or a dog collar. The spring returns the gate to the closed position as soon as you let go, so you do not have to close the carabiner by hand after clipping it on. You can move the keychain with the AirTag from your keys to a backpack and back in a moment, without prising open the key ring. This comes in handy on trips, for example, when you clip the AirTag to your luggage and put it back on your keys once you are home.

Snap-in frame

The frame consists of two metal parts: a back part with an eyelet for the strap and a front ring. You place the AirTag in the back part and press the front ring onto it until it clicks into place. Once snapped in, the AirTag stays put even when the keychain swings as you walk or tumbles around among other things in a bag. The frame can be taken apart again, so you can take the AirTag out, for example to replace the battery. The AirTag is not included.

Exposed sides of the AirTag

Both parts of the frame are shaped to fit the AirTag and overlap it only with a thin metal rim at the edge. Both sides of the AirTag therefore stay uncovered: the polished steel with the Apple logo shows at the front and the white plastic at the back. Thanks to this, the keychain stays slim.

Five color options

The AT1 keychain comes in five colors: black, silver, gold, blue and purple. The versions differ only in the color of the frame around the AirTag. The dark gray carabiner, the black strap, the dimensions and the weight are the same for all of them. On the gold version, the frame therefore contrasts with the dark carabiner and strap, and the keychain has a two-tone look. If several people at home use an AirTag, the frame color helps tell whose keys are whose.

Dimensions and weight

The keychain is 87 mm long including the carabiner, 38 mm wide at the frame and 9 mm thick. In length it roughly matches the longer side of a payment card, which measures 85.6 mm. The 30 g weight applies to the whole keychain, i.e. the frame, the strap and the carabiner. The Find My app then uses the AirTag to show the location of the keys or bag the keychain is clipped to.
