The Mobile Origin OT2 is an aluminium magnetic phone tripod whose ring with N52 neodymium magnets holds an iPhone with MagSafe the moment you place it on. With its three legs spread, it stands on a desk, table or shelf, with the support rod extended it works as a selfie stick, and folded up it clips onto a backpack with its carabiner.

N52 neodymium magnets: the phone attaches from the back, so the side buttons and the edges of the display stay free.
Triangular base: the phone stands on its own on a desk or shelf, so you do not have to hold anything while filming.
Pivot joint with a 180° range: you change the tilt of the phone with one hand and the joint holds the chosen angle.

N52 magnets and phone compatibility

The ring of the tripod holds N52 neodymium magnets, one of the highest grades in common production. The number in the grade expresses the magnetic strength of the material: the higher it is, the stronger the magnet at the same size. An iPhone with MagSafe from the 12 series onwards attaches to the ring directly, even in a case with its own MagSafe magnets. A thick or rugged case without magnets, on the other hand, weakens the hold because it increases the distance between the phone and the magnets in the ring. For other phones, the metal ring from the box serves as the counterpart.

Stable tripod with a triangular base

The three legs fold out from the joint at the bottom of the body into a triangular base. Three points of support always lie in one plane, so the base does not wobble even on a slightly uneven tabletop or shelf. The legs have silicone and ABS plastic elements that protect the surface the tripod stands on. Desk mode suits filming from one spot, such as tutorials or unboxings, as well as photos without holding the phone in your hand.

Aluminium body and backpack carabiner

The body is made of aluminium alloy machined with CNC technology, i.e. computer-controlled machining. The black finish is complemented by a bronze lever on the side that opens part of the magnetic ring, so the ring also works as a carabiner. Use it to clip the folded tripod onto a backpack strap or loop, and before filming simply unclip and unfold it. Clipped on the outside, it takes up no space in your backpack and is close at hand when you want to film handheld.

Pivot joint with a 180° range

The upper part with the magnetic ring pivots in the joint above the legs through a 180° range, changing the tilt of the phone. The joint adjusts smoothly, without fixed positions, so you can fine-tune the angle to the shot, for example on your face during a live stream or on objects in front of the camera during an ASMR recording. The phone turns to portrait or landscape directly on the magnetic ring, so the shot format and the tilt are set independently. When you alternate between vertical videos for social media and horizontal shots, there is no need to readjust the whole tripod.

Selfie stick and switching modes

With the support rod pushed out from the centre of the folded body, the OT2 works as a selfie stick. Spreading the legs turns it into a desk tripod, and when folded, the legs tuck back into the body. You switch between modes without any extra parts, and in each of them the phone attaches to the same magnetic ring. One accessory thus covers handheld vlogging as well as filming from one spot on a desk.

Dimensions and weight

Folded, the OT2 measures 59 x 163 x 13 mm and weighs 112 g. It is widest at the ring, the lower part is 26 mm wide and the legs are tucked inside. Its length matches a larger phone, and at 13 mm thick it fits into the side pocket of a backpack or bag.
