Headphone cleaning kit CL2

Earphones collect dust, grease and flakes of skin every day, which settle mainly in the speaker grille. After a few weeks, the result can be heard: bass becomes weaker, highs are muffled and maximum volume sounds only half as loud. A brush usually pushes this layer deeper in, while the cleaning compound pulls it out.

The compound works on the principle of adhesion. A small piece is pressed onto the grille, adapts to the surface and, when pulled away, takes with it the particles that have stuck to it. When used correctly, it does not run, dissolve or leave residue, so it can handle even sensitive electronics, the speaker grille of AirPods, microphone openings and charging ports.

A common mistake when cleaning with compound is using too large a piece. A large piece of compound has more difficulty getting into the grille and is more likely to leave residue behind. That is why CL2 supplies the compound in the form of pre-portioned cubes, where one cube corresponds to the amount for one cleaning.

The three blocks in the package last for approximately 96 uses, so one package will last for months. The process is simple: warm one small piece between your fingers for about 10 seconds, briefly press it onto the surface and pull it straight away from the grille. The actual number of uses depends on the size of the area being cleaned; an AirPods grille uses a smaller piece than a USB-C port.

The kit cleans practically anything with a grille, opening or crevice. It is suitable for in-ear earphones and AirPods, phone charging ports (USB-C and Lightning), microphones and speakers, as well as laptops, keyboards and gamepads. For keyboards and gamepads, the tools are mainly used; for earphones and ports, the combination of tool and compound is used.

Do not use the compound on displays or wet surfaces. The kit is intended for dry openings and grilles, not for surfaces where the compound could smear or trap moisture.
